Simulation systems such as Matlab a nd Aspen Plus are commonly referenced in chemical engineering curricula as required courseware a nd study tools. Automation professionals are also becoming used to applying simulation to operato r training, system testing, a nd commissioning of plant process control systems. Plant
design simulation programs are substantially different fr om systems used fo r training a nd commissioning. Many of the most common plant design simulation programs are steady state, low-resolution simulations that are not usable fo r automation o r plant life-cycle management.
